Imaging agents are very often required to improve both sensitivity and selectivity of our modern medical imaging techniques. Most of the work conducted in this area by the Polymer Chemistry Group is within the field of MRI agents, although we have strong programs in ultrasound and multi-modal imaging agents (PET, optical, SERS).

A specific objective of our work is to combine high performance of the agent with the ability to target particular tissue types, specifically diseased cells.

We are involved in collaborative programs developing imaging agents for identification of cancer (melanoma, glioma, ovarian, prostate) and of Alzheimer’s disease.
